Dear Families & Friends of New Horizon,

I hope you are all having a restful summer with your families, friends, and loved ones. For learners and educators, summer is a time to relax and eventually prepare for the year ahead. However, at New Horizon School, crews are hard at work on projects related to the rehabilitation of New Horizon School. The building is on track to reopen to students and staff on Friday, August 14, a date that is rapidly approaching.


Throughout July, crews have been making progress in several areas as they look forward to our reopening:


● Continued miscellaneous carpentry
● Continued HVAC pipe and duct installations
● Completed structural steel installation for the new Roof Top Units (RTU’s)
● Completed roof penetrations and set roof curbs for the RTU’s
● Completed setting of the new RTU’s
● Continued installing lights in classrooms and corridors.
● Completed painting corridor walls.
● Continued painting door frames.
● Started and finished ceiling tile installation in 20 Pod, 40 Pod and 60 Pod.
● Started ceiling grid in the corridors
● Started new flooring install in 20 Pod, 40 Pod, 60 Pod classrooms.
● Continued HVAC Pipe and Duct insulation.
● Continued Plumbing Fixture installation.
● Completed reinstalling the Homemaking Room casework and new countertop.
● Continued storefront/aluminum window replacement work.
● Completed restroom partition reinstallation.
● Started final cleaning
● Start moving school furniture and equipment into classrooms
● Start flooring installation in corridors

Looking ahead to August and beyond, here is the work that you can expect our crews to tackle:


● Finish HVAC Pipe and Duct installation.
● Finish HVAC RTU final connections.
● Finish HVAC RTU controls.
● Start & finish HVAC Equipment Manufacturer Start-up (RTU’s & Boilers)
● Finish storefront/aluminum window detail work.
● Finish flooring installation
● Finish ceiling tile in the cafeteria and corridors.
● Finish plumbing fixture installation.
● Complete final cleaning.
● Finish moving school furniture and equipment into classrooms/offices
● Substantial completion/turn over to the school.

A new school year brings with it many new possibilities, and that will be especially true for the revamped New Horizon School. All of us at BVIU – administrators, board members, and staff – are excited for the 2026-27 school year. We are grateful for you and your support as we near a key milestone – the safe return home of our students and staff.
