New Horizon Delayedsssss

Dear New Horizon School Families, Staff, and Community Stakeholders,

We understand that many of you have seen recent news coverage regarding the discovery of mold in storage containers associated with the New Horizon School renovation project. We want to provide some additional context and reassure our school community as we prepare for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

While it is true that many of the items stored in those containers had to be discarded, it is important to clarify that we did not lose all of the school’s furnishings or equipment. Essential items such as student desks, lunchroom tables, technology, and many other resources remain intact and ready for use.

Losing the materials that were stored is certainly disappointing, and we recognize the frustration it has caused. However, this situation does not place the start of the school year at risk. Our team is working thoughtfully and diligently to replace the items that are needed, and we are confident that we will have the necessary resources in place to support student learning and success.

We are also incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from neighboring schools, community members, and organizations who have already reached out with offers to help. Your generosity and commitment to our students are truly appreciated.

For those who have asked how they can help, monetary donations to support our teachers in purchasing classroom supplies are greatly appreciated. Checks may be made payable to the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit. Please indicate “New Horizon School Classroom Supplies” in the memo line to ensure your donation is directed toward classroom needs.

Donations may be mailed to:

Most importantly, we are excited to share that the building renovation project looks outstanding. The improvements have transformed our learning environment, and we cannot wait to welcome our students and staff back into the New Horizon School building. We are looking forward to beginning the school year in a safe and welcoming space.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and partnership. We look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school and beginning another successful year together.

Sincerely,

Jason Guzie, Ed.D.
