For over 40 years, the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit (BVIU) has proudly partnered with public schools across Beaver County to deliver a full range of special education services for students with disabilities. Whether a student attends one of our 14 school districts or one of the county’s five charter schools, we’re committed to providing the right support in the least restrictive, most inclusive environment possible.
Our programs are designed to meet students where they are—academically, emotionally, and socially—helping them thrive in school and beyond. Here’s a look at the wide range of services we offer:
Audiology & Hearing Support
We provide specialized instruction and support for students with hearing loss, helping them succeed in regular education environments whenever possible.
Behavioral Support
Our team offers evidence-based interventions to help students manage behavior and build positive habits that support success in the classroom.
Curriculum & Instruction
We empower educators through ongoing professional development, instructional coaching, and curriculum support tailored to today’s evolving educational needs.
Early Intervention (Ages 3–5)
Our no-cost Early Intervention program helps young children with developmental delays build essential skills for a successful start in school.
English Language Learners (ELL)
Serving students in Beaver County and beyond, our ELL program offers daily, research-based instruction to help multilingual learners build English fluency and confidence.
Fingerprinting Services
Need fingerprint clearance? Our Central Office is an official IdentoGO location, making it convenient for school staff and community members to get the clearances they need.
Instructional & Informational Technology
From digital tools to classroom tech integration, our IT team supports schools and educators in bringing innovative technology into teaching and learning.
Mental Health Services
We offer comprehensive mental health support in both classroom and home settings, working closely with families to meet students’ emotional and behavioral needs.
Non-Public School Services
BVIU extends services to students attending non-public schools in Beaver County, ensuring every learner has access to the support they need.
New Horizon School & New Horizon North
For students who need center-based services, New Horizon School and its satellite campus, New Horizon North, offer specialized programs in emotional support, life skills, and multi-disability support. These programs focus on building academic, social, and vocational skills for life after graduation.
Special Education Support Services
We help school administrators deliver high-quality services to students with special needs, offering guidance and resources that improve outcomes for all learners.
Training & Consultation (TaC)
Our TaC team provides expert technical assistance and professional development to educators throughout the county, supporting best practices in special education and beyond.
