Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Courses
The Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit is committed to providing quality online courses. These courses are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and are applicable for the following:
Level II Certification
All teachers moving from Level I to Level II Certification are required to earn 24 credits beyond a bachelor's degree. All 24 of these credits may be earned via the BVIU CPE Credit Courses.
Master's Equivalency
Those teachers interested in earning a master's equivalency are required to earn 36 master level credits. 18 of those credits may be earned via the BVIU CPE Credit Courses.
ACT 48 Hours
All PA Certified educators (employed or not) are required to earn 180 hours of professional development every 5 years from the date an initial certificate is issued. Each BVIU CPE Credit is equivalent to 30 of these hours. Therefore, earning 6 BVIU CPE Credits every 5 years satisfies this requirement.
