Dr. Amy L. Hartle, Doctor of Audiology, BVIU Educational Audiologist
Dr. Hartle is a native of Beaver County. She graduated from Beaver Area Jr/Sr High School with honorary academics in 1992. Dr. Hartle is currently a proud resident of Beaver/Brighton Township.
Dr. Hartle earned the Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from West Virginia University in May of 1997 and a Masters Degree in Audiology, also from West Virginia, in May of 1999. In November of 2009 she was proudly awarded a Doctorate Degree in Audiology from Salus University in Philadelphia.
In 2020, Dr. Hartle celebrated her 21st year as the Educational Audiologist for the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit and New Horizon School
Prior to New Horizon, she worked as a Clinical Audiologist for various Ear, Nose and Throat Doctors offices in Beaver and Allegheny County conducting hearing tests, hearing aid selection, fittings, verification and counseling, conducting dizziness testing and Auditory Brainstem Response testing, as well as aural rehabilitation.
Dr. Hartle is the acting Liaison for the Deaf-Blind Program as well as Volunteer Coordinator for Local Events of the Beaver County Special Olympics and she serves as the Beaver County Education Association Union President.
Mrs. Allison Benedict, Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Allison is a native of Lawrence County. She is a 2006 graduate of Laurel Jr/Sr High School in New Castle. Allison currently resides in Union Township in New Castle.
Allison Benedict earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology with a concentration in Deaf Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in May of 2010 and a Master of Science Degree in Deaf Education PK-12, also from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, in May of 2012. She also attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania to take coursework in elementary education.
Allison recently celebrated her 8th year as an itinerant teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing for the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit and New Horizon School. Prior to working for the BVIU/New Horizon, Allison worked as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the Luzerne Intermediate Unit #18 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Mrs. Benedict currently provides itinerant Hearing Support services to Ambridge, Baden Academy, Beaver, Central Valley, Hopewell, Midland, South Side, and Western Beaver school districts, as well as, to the Early Intervention preschool program.
Allison is the acting Assistant Volunteer Coordinator for Local Events of the Beaver County Special Olympics and she is the past Vice President of the Beaver County Education Association Union. Allison is an active member at Eastbook United Methodist Church in New Castle, PA.
Ms. Emily Mitchell, Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Emily grew up and currently resides in Liberty Borough, a small town in Allegheny county, with her family and two dogs. She graduated from South Allegheny Jr/Sr High School in 2015. After high school, Emily attended Bloomsburg University of PA, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree with dual certifications in Deaf Education and Early Childhood Education in 2019. She completed minors in American Sign Language and Special Education and earned a certification for English as a Second Language.
After her graduation from Bloomsburg University, Emily spent the 2019-2020 school year teaching at a language school in Amantea, Italy. She spent the year teaching English as a foreign language, learning Italian, and traveling throughout Italy and the rest of Europe.
The 2020-2021 school year is Emily’s first year as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit and New Horizon School.
Emily provides itinerant hearing support services to Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Blackhawk, Freedom, New Brighton, and Riverside school districts, along with Lincoln Park Charter School for Performing Arts and Early Intervention preschool programs.
