BrainSTEPS

Pennsylvania has established consulting teams across the state based in Intermediate Units. The Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit is pleased to offer the BrainSTEPS School Re-Entry Program to children with brain injuries, ranging from mild concussions to traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

The team is comprised of professionals from various disciplines who have received training on supporting students with TBI. Their backgrounds include special education, guidance counseling, athletics, school psychology. Team members act as consultants and provide training and resources to school personnel and families as needed.

One goal of the BrainSTEPS program is to ensure that a small team of staff members from each school building in our county receives training on how to best support students after returning to school following a head injury.
For more information on school-based Concussion Management Teams, and to register for the training, please read this flyer.
