Positive Behavior Support

Support provided through the Training and Consultation Staff include services that are designed to meet the behavioral needs of students within our region. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Individual student observations and consultations 

  • Facilitation of the Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) process and assistance with the development of Positive Behavior Support Plans and the design of individualized positive behavioral strategies

  • Professional development opportunities for district professional and paraprofessional staff through both formal trainings and on-site team consultations

  • Coaching to support the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) within our districts for students in general and special education programs          

  • The TaC Staff includes Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support Network Facilitators who are available to provide guidance to schools in the implementation of a School Wide Positive Behavior Support framework that is supported through the Pennsylvania Department of Education

  • Collaboration with districts to support behavioral interventions within the Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtII) framework

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training to support effective verbal de-escalation skills, evasive and defensive procedures for staff, and safe physical restraints for students who require physical intervention to prevent injury to themselves or others. The training provides a systematic approach to safely managing staff and student behavior. This training is aligned with PA Chapter 14 and IDEIA requirements for managing Student behavior.
